Faisalabad Customs Intelligence seizes smuggled fabric, truck worth Rs 2.9m

FAISALABAD: The Customs Intelligence and Investigation has confiscated 68 bundles of Indian grey fabric and Mazda truck worth Rs 2.9 million involving duty/taxes amounting to Rs 1.24 million.

Following information received through Additional Director Azmat Tahira, the intelligence team comprising Deputy Director Riaz Hussain, Superintendent Muhammad Rafiq, Intelligence Officer Naseer Ahmed, Muhammad Saleem, Mansoor Nasir, Bashir Hussain and Sepoys Mukhtar Ahmed, Khalil Ahmed, Muhammad Tariq, Muhammad Iqbal, conducted a raid near District Jail Road, Faisalabad and recovered foreign origin grey fabric from a truck bearing Registration No LRC-3550.

The team asked the accused persons named Maqsood Ahmed resident of Kashmir Road Iqbal Colony Ghulam Muhammadabad, Faisalabad to show the documents regarding its legal import but he failed to do the same. Therefore, the customs officials seized the cloth under the Import and Export Control Act 1950 punishable under Section 156(1) 89 and 178 of Customs Act, 1969. The seizure report has been sent to adjudication for further legal action.
