SHC issue notice to chief commissioner IR on plea filed by M/s Hamd Printers

KARACHI: The Sindh High Court (SHC) has issued notice to the alleged contemnor namely Muhammad Ejaz Khan, Chief Commissioner Inland Revenue, Regional Tax Office, Zone – IV Regional Tax Office – II on an application filed by M/s Al Hamd Printers, seeking restoration of its sales tax registration.

A two-member bench, comprising Justice Nadeem Akhtar and Justice Muhammad Faisal Kamal ,was hearing the application. During the hearing, counsel for the petitioner submitted that as per last order of this court, the petitioner was running the business. In the meantime, the contemnor again issued show cause notice on June 22, 2016, therefore, the contemnor passed order for suspension of its registration.

On the last date of hearing, the court had suspended the impugned notice and had restored the petitioner’s sales tax registration.

Earlier, counsel for the petitioner stated that petitioner is manufacturing of printing press and paying all liabilities regularly. However the respondents issued show cause notice to the petitioner and suspended its sales tax registration.

Citing Secretary Ministry of Interior, Chairman FBR, Director Intelligence and Investigation Inland Revenue, deputy commissioner Inland Revenue Regional Tax Office-II and others as respondents, petitioner pleaded the SHC may set aside impugned notice and restore the sales tax registration of the petitioner.
