Bangladesh became one of the key export markets for Russian wheat

MOSCOW: Russia continues to export record high volumes of wheat. According to preliminary data, May exports were record high for this month – 1319 KMT, which is 150% higher than volume of May 2015 (560 KMT).

Since the beginning of 2015/16 Russian wheat exports grew by 17% compared to the same period of last season (23.75 MMT against 20.23 MMT).

This season Russia increased exports to Asian and African countries. Bangladesh destination has the highest export growth buying 1135 KMT against 190 KMT over the same period of 2014/15.

Thus, Bangladesh became the fourth largest buyer on the list of top Russian wheat importers, ousting Azerbaidzhan, which lowered imports by 30%.

It should be noted that Bangladesh is also one of the key export markets for Ukrainian wheat and soon both countries will increase competition on this market.
