Sialkot Cusotms will clear rebate claims upto 2014 soon: Assistant Collector Fahad Bashir Chaudhary

SIALKOT: Assistant Collector Fahad Bashir Chaudhary said that Customs Sialkot has issued rebate refund cheques up to Rs5 million to about 400 exporters after strict directions of Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) to clear outstanding rebate claims.

He said the government will provide handsome amount to clear rebate refunds soon and customs department will issue cheques to exporters who have filed their cases for rebate refunds. He said the Customs department will ready to clear rebate refunds upto 2014.

While on the other hand chairman Pakistan Surgical Instruments Manufacturers and Exporters Association Muhammad Ashraf Raza has urged the government to clear rebate refund claims of the exporters belonging to the export industry in Sialkot without any delay.

Ashraf Raza said that the late payment of rebate refund is creating problems for exporters in Sialkot.  He said that “if the government pays rebate refunds in time, the exporters can send their shipments before the expiry date of the letter of credit.”He said that the export industry of Sialkot  will grow if the government gives special attention to this sector by facilitating it at all levels. In answer to a question he said some cases are pending of 2009-10 while these cases will be cleared in the year and these cases has been referred to FBR and FBR has agreed to clear these cases as soon as possible.
