KARACHI: Customs Gwadar has recovered non-duty paid Indian jewellery, cosmetics and foreign origin liquor during different crackdowns and arrested two suspects.
According to details, Collector Gwadar Saeed Akram received secret information that a huge quantity of foreign origin liquor and non-duty paid Indian jewellery is being smuggled outside Gwadar. After receiving the information, the collector constituted a raiding team comprising Superintendent Preventive Hamdullah Khan, Inspector Kashif and others.
The customs team formed many check points on main entry and exit points of the city. During checking of vehicles the customs team intercepted a Mazda vehicle and recovered 300 sets of Indian origin jewellery and cosmatics.
Customs team asked the driver of the vehicle about legal documents regarding possession of Indian made jewelery and cosmatics but he failed to provide any relevant documents. Upon his failure customs team seized the jewelery and cosmatics and registered a case of smuggling against accused person.
During another crackdown a customs team under the supervision of Deputy Collector Aftab Ullah Shah raided a godown near Gwadar Road and recovered 200 bottles of foreign origin liquor. Customs team seized the liquor and registered a case againt unknown persons.
