Faisalabad ASO recovers non-duty paid cloth during crackdown

FAISALABAD: The Customs Anti-Smuggling Organisation (ASO) has seized 810 kilograms smuggled cloth worth Rs 383,778 involving customs duty and taxes amounting to Rs 193,501 during an action.

According to details, Additional Collector Saeed Asad received information regarding the smuggling of cloth from Lahore to Faisalabad through  Kohistan bus service bearing registration no FDS-2573. He constituted a ASO team under the supervision of  Deputy Collector Rizwan Khan comprising Superintendent Saeed Akhtar Joiya, Inspector Khalid Ashraf Noor, Safdar Ali, Ali Zahid, sepoys Muhammad Ishfaq, Muhammad Naeem, Muhammad Yaseen, Javid Iqbal and Muhammad Ashraf to conduct the raid.

The ASO team raided near Motorway, Sargodha Road, Faisalabad and recovered smuggled cloth from the bus. The team asked accused persons Noor Dad, Waheed Ullah, and Khuda Dad to produce legal documents regarding possession of above said cloth. All the accused persons failed to show any relevant documents. The ASO team after registering a case arrested the accused persons.. The case was forwarded to the Customs Adjudication for further legal action.
