Sialkot ASO impounds non-duty paid Pajero during road checking

SIALKOT: The Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) of Customs House Zone-II impounded a non customs paid Pajero jeep worth Rs 1.8 million the other day.

According to sources, Deputy Collector Muhammad Hanif Khan received information that some non-duty paid vehicles are plying on roads. After receiving the information, he constituted a team comprising Superintendent Naeem Khan, Inspector Mansha, constables Irfan Ali, Shafique and Luqman. The team started checking of vehicles at different entry and exit points of Mandi Bahauddin and Hafizabad Road.

Meanwhile the team intercepted a Pajero jeep bearing registration no. ICT-389-093-12 and asked driver who was identified as Kaleem Ullah to show legal documents regarding possession of  Pajero jeep. The driver of the vehicle failed to show any relevant documents. After his failure ASO team impounded the vehicle and shifted the same to state warehouse. The driver also told ASO team that the Pajero is owned by a renowned politician.

Superintendent Naeem told Customs Today that the impounded Pajero Jeep will be sent to foresenic lab for test after that the case will be forwarded to Adjudication for proceeding and issued notice to owner and driver of Pajero Jeep.

He said if the owner of Pajero jeep will show custom duty paid documents then the Pajero jeep will be released after verification. He said that if the vehicle chassis and other parts found cut and duplicate then the vehicle will permanently sealed and will be auctioned in due course of time.
