Saudi Arabia posts $14.3bn tourism revenue

RIYADH: Saudi Arabia’s tourism sector generated SR53.7 billion ($14.3 billion) in revenues this year, said a report stating official figures. The Saudi Commission for Tourism and National Heritage (SCTNH) unveiled that domestic and inbound (foreign) tourism revenues reached SR53.7 billion while outgoing Saudi tourists spent SR24.1 ($6.4 billion) billion abroad, said a report in Arab News.

Furthermore, the number of inbound tourists reached 15.4 million in 2015, up 3 per cent from the previous year, while outbound tourist numbers hit 6.4 million. Inbound tourist expenditure was the highest reportedly the highest spending group at SR5,120 ($1,363.2) per capita, compared to SR3,020 ($804) per capita for the outbound tourism sector.
