Sources told Customs Today that a team of Customs Intelligence intercepted a Hino truck bearing registration no. AE-1126- Sukkur model 1996 bearing chassis number AK174-MA-40067. During the verification it was revealed that the chassis number of vehicle was welded.

The customs intelligence team asked the owner Muhammad Rashid son of Ali Asghar to produce relevant documents regarding the legal import and lawful possession of vehicle. However he failed to present any relevant documents. After that customs team impounded the vehicle and customs official sent chassis of the said vehicle for forensic test.

After forensic report it was revealed that self-made chassis number has been welded on the actual number and it is a tempered vehicle.

Later, a seizure report was for awarded to the adjudication department where Collector Raja Tahir Majeed declared the confiscation of the Hino truck lawful and issued order in original (ONO)in favour of the customs intelligence. This abundantly reveals that the respondent has nothing to say in this defence and is therefore avoiding facing the adjudication proceeding in this way the owner of seized vehicle has failed to shed burden of proof as envisaged in section 156(2) read with section 187 of Customs Act 1969.
