ASO impounds non-duty paid vehicles, goods worth Rs51 million in June

LAHORE: The Anti-Smuggling Organisation (ASO) of Customs Collectorate Preventive, Lahore has seized smuggled/ non-duty paid vehicles and goods during the month of June, 2016 valuing Rs.51.331 million.

According to official data cases of valuing Rs9.8 million were made during the month of June 2015. Cases valuing Rs386.65 million have been made during the period July 2015 to June 2016 whereas cases valuing Rs302.08 million were made during the corresponding period of last year. An increase of Rs 41.53 million as compared with the June 2015 and increase of Rs. 84.57 million excess as compared with the corresponding period of last year.

The Anti-Smuggling Organisation seized smuggled/ non-duty paid vehicles and goods during the month of May, 2016 valuing Rs28.70 million. Cases of valuing Rs24.51 million were made during the month of May 2015. Cases valuing Rs335.32 million have been made during the period July 2015 to May 2016 whereas cases valuing Rs292.28 million were made during the corresponding period of last year. An increase of Rs4.19 million as compared with the May 2015 and increase of Rs43.04 million excess as compared with the corresponding period of last year.

Anti-Smuggling Organization of Collectorate of Customs Preventive the seized vehicle, goods and article and miscellaneous contraband item under the supervision Assistant Collector Dr Muhammad Adnan Khan, Munawar Ahmad Khan, Superintendent.

Earlier, Assistant Collector of Customs ASO Dr Adnan told Customs Today that on the instructions of collector of customs Lahore Preventive a number of crackdown were conducted to curtail smuggling under the limits of the collectorate which has not only create deterrence beside brought smuggling activities down to a significant level.

ASO is committed to destroy illegal dens of the smugglers so that legal business could be better protected, he added.
