Customs Intelligence impounds non-duty paid Honda car‏ near Haripur

ISLAMABAD: Directorate of Customs Intelligence and Investigation team impounded a non-duty paid Honda airwave car worth Rs 777,000.

According to details, in pursuance of information, received by Director I&I Rawalpindi Field Intelligence Unit (FIU) of Haripur formed a picket  near GT Road. The said vehicle bearing registration no ICT-RV-307 Islamabad was coming from Haripur city. The vehicle reached the picket-point but the driver fled from the scene. The FIU staff, however, chased the vehicle and found it parked beside the road near Sarai-Saleh Bridge.

The staff started searching for driver but all in vein, therefore, the Honda car was brought to FIU office where physically examination of the vehicle was carried-out.

As per physical examination, the chassis no of the vehicle was GJ1-1028889 and engine no L15A5034457(1500CC) model 2005.

The vehicle was detained under section 17 of the Customs Act, 1969 with the approval of the competent authority for verification of its legal documents regarding payment of duty and taxes leviable thereon.

It has been established the detained airwave car is smuggled one and was brought into the country through unauthorized route without payment of duty and taxes livable thereon the said vehicle Honda registration no ICT-RV-307-Islamabad got converted into proper seizer and found violation of section 2(c) 16, 164, 167 of the Customs Act 1969.

The Directorate of I&I issued a notice under section 171 of the Customs Act, 1969 , the notice issued against the unknown person and place it on notice board of I&I and seizer report along with its relevant document is submitted to customs Adjudication.
