Construction of weighbridge at Customs Station Borki will facilitate traders of Kurram Agency ‏

ISLAMABAD:  Facility upgrades such as weighbridges, voice and internet connectivity will ensure speedy clearances and facilitate traders in Kurram Agency. The work is currently underway for the construction of a weighbridge at Customs Station Borki.

Sources told Customs Today that Collector Customs collectorate Peshawar Qurban Ali Khan has taken automation/paperless clearance of import/export consignments as a challenge, as filing GDs through WeBOC in the remote and undeveloped area of Kurram Agency is a symbolic proof of success.

The Customs Department can collect handsome revenue in shape of customs duty on import and export goods by shifting customs stations of Kurram Agency along with Afghanistan border to Web Based One Customs (WeBOC).

The sources further said that construction of weighbridge at Customs Station Borki encouraging the business community and it will be up gradation of moral of Customs staff with the hope that in the near future they will physically see this crucial problem solved.

It is also told that area (Kurram Agency) is not good regarding ascertaining actual weight of a loaded vehicle for assessment of duty and taxes without having a weigh bridge in the vicinity, mostly the examiner had to report the presumptive weight even in high tariff goods.

Collector Qurban Ali Khan appreciated the Assistant Collector Kohat Muhammad Ali Asad’s valuable efforts regarding construction of weighbridge at Customs Station Borki.

The sources said that Peshawar Customs was also planning to shift customs stations i.e. Kharlachi and Teri Mangal to WeBOC in near future.
