Customs Intelligence seizes items worth Rs 33m in June

MULTAN: The Directorate of Customs Intelligence and Investigation has seized various items and vehicles worth Rs 33 million during June 2016.

The Multan Customs Intelligence carried out different anti-smuggling operations in the jurisdiction and formed 25 seizure cases during the said period. It impounded 15 non-duty paid vehicles worth Rs 22 million in different raids.

The Customs Intelligence teams formed six cases of worth Rs 9.4 million in Multan territory and impounded three vehicles, including Toyota Land Cruiser, Mazda Mini Truck and Hino Truck.

Customs Intelligence Field Investigation Unit of Dera Ghazi Khan detected 11 cases and seized items worth Rs 13.2 million during the said period. The customs impounded seven various vehicles including Toyota (X) Fielder, Corolla-X, Suzuki Alto Car, Toyota Premio car and others from Dera Ghazi Khan. It also seized smuggled tyres, auto parts, Iranian oil and other items during different actions.

The Customs Intelligence Sadiqabad unit made eight seizure cases involving Rs 10.70 million during June. Five various vehicles including Toyota Vitz, Toyota Corolla XLI, Suzuki Alto, Honda Inspire and Toyota Nissan worth Rs.6.7 million were impounded. The Customs Intelligence teams also seized auto parts from the Sadiqabad Region.

Officials said that the anti-smuggling campaign will be continued in the region to bust smuggling attempts, which are affecting the national economy badly. Flow of smuggled items in markets was damaging local productions, they said.

The Customs Intelligence has increased vigilance in Sadiqabad, Dera Ghazi Khan and Multan region to keep an eye on the smugglers those are using hidden routes to supply non-duty paid foreign origin items in markets.
