Absence of Collector Adjudication-I effecting process badly

KARACHI: The working affairs in the Collectorate of Customs Adjudication-I is being affected badly due to the permanent absence of a Collector.

According to details, the serving Collector of Customs Adjudication-I Abdul Basit Chaudhry has went for a leave for one-year, adding that in the absence of the Collector, no one yet to look after the affairs of the Collectorate.

The customs sources informed that the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has decided to transfer charge the  Adjudication-II Collector Javed Chaudhry, an additional charge of the Collector of Customs Adjudication-I. However; no such move has yet to be taken by the FBR authorities in this regard.

The importers and clearing agents were sharing their views with Customs Today said that their daily affairs are being affected badly due to the absence of permanent Collector for the Collectorate of Customs Adjudication-I.

The sources said that the dates of hearings in cases are also being not given to the importers and clearing agents due to the absence of Collector.

The sources further informed that the Javed Chaudhry, the Collector of the Collectorate of Customs Adjudication-II is not yet taken the additional charge of the office of the Collectorate of Customs Adjudication-I.
