Casinos of Chile see drop in revenues for May

LONDON: The Chilean Gaming Control Board recently released the statistics showing the gaming revenue amounts for the month of May. Chile gambling venues have continued to see growth over a twelve month time frame but for the month of May, revenues are down. For May, the 16 casinos located throughout Chile saw a decrease in gaming revenues of 2.5% when compared to May of 2015.  Earnings of $26.801bn pesos were reported for same month this year.

Despite the decrease when comparing May of this year to last year, Chile actually saw an increase over the past twelve months in revenues of just over 7%. Visitor numbers were down for the month with a decrease of just over 9% at 448,373 individuals coming to the gaming venues. However, visitor numbers are still up when compared to May of last year with an increase of 3.5%. $4.374bn was contributed by way of gaming tax revenues, given to areas that are located in the 11 regions of Chile where the casinos are located. Taxes on entrance fees for May were recorded at $1.428bn with $4.279bn generated in gaming VAT for the month.
