Faisalabad Customs Intelligence impounds non-duty paid Toyota Hiace

FAISALABAD: The Customs Intelligence and Investigation Faisalabad has impounded a non-customs paid Toyota Hiace van during an operation.

Sources told Customs Today that Customs Intelligence and Investigation Deputy Director Riaz Hussain received information that  a smuggled Toyota Hiace van is going to cross through the route of 18 Hazari.

The smuggled vehicle was bearing registration number LES-10-6580 and the model of the smuggled vehicle was 2007. It was in silver colour.

Following the directives of Deputy Director Customs Intelligence Raiz Hussain, a team of customs comprising Superintendent Muhammad Rafique, Intelligence Officer, Naseer Ahmed, Mansoor Nasir, Muhammad Saleem and Israr Ahmed, Zulfiqar Ali, Muhammad Tariq were deployed near the Chowk 18 Hazari Bhakkar Road district Jhang to detain the vehicle.

When the customs team intercepted the vehicle, driver namely Muhammad Akmal and owner Ahmad Ali failed to produce any import documents to prove their legal possession. After failure of providing any legal documents customs staff impounded the vehicle.

The value of the Hiace van was around Rs30,00,000 and its customs duty was almost Rs20,00,000 million. The Customs Intelligence and Investigation Faisalabad have impounded the vehicle under Section 2(s), 16, and 18 read with section 2(s) of the Customs Act 1969.
