Customs Intelligence seizes Iranian cloth, dried fruit

SIALKOT: The Customs Intelligence and Investigation has confiscated smuggled Iranian cloth and Iranian dried fruit worth Rs 100,000 here at Gujranwala General Bus Stand during an action.

Reportedly, Customs Intelligence Superintendent Muhammad Akmal received information by an informer that smuggled Iranian cloth and dried fruit would be supplied in Sialkot from Quetta and Peshawar.

The superintendent deputed Inspectors Mian Muhammad Yousaf and Majid Raza to keep an eye on buses and vans in order to foil the smuggling attempt. The said inspectors with their team started searching buses and vans at bus stand.

During searching, the team recovered smuggled Iranian cloth from a bus and dry fruit from a van. The team confiscated cloth and dried fruit worth Rs.100.000. The team asked drivers of bus and van Nazakat and Riasat about the booking of cloth and dry fruit but they failed to show any documents about booking of the items.

The team shifted the confiscated smuggled cloth and dry fruit to the compound of Customs Intelligence and Investigation and registered cases. The team released drivers after proper interrogation. It is learnt that the bus was going to Lahore from Rawalpindi and the van was coming to Sialkot from Peshawar.
