KARACHI: Directorate of Customs Intelligence and Investigation Quetta has stepped up their efforts to curb smuggling in the region and for this purpose it has adopted a comprehensive policy and is getting positive results.
Sources told Customs Today that Director Customs Intelligence and Investigation Imtiaz Ahmed Khan has urged the officials to use all available resources to curb smuggling in the region. He also appreciated the customs staff for showing outstanding performance and curbed many attempts of smuggling in the recent past.
Sources said that Director Customs Intelligence and Investigation Imtiaz Ahmad Khan received secret information that some smugglers are planning to smuggle huge quantity of plastic crunch. He conveyed the information to Collector Customs Quetta Saeed Jadoon who constituted a customs team under the supervision of deputy director which also comprises Shamim Ahmed Khan, Illahi Bux and Inspector Ghulam Rasool. The customs team raided at a godown and impounded a truck loaded which plastic crush.The vehicle was ready for departure.
Customs team seized 100 sacks of plastic crush and arrested the guard and godown and driver of the truck and registered a case of smuggling against accused persons.
Sources said that during another operation customs authorities recovered 100 laptops during an operation. Sources told that customs team during a routine checking intercepted a bus and asked the persons who were board on the truck to show legal documents regarding possession of truck. All the four persons failed to show any documents. After which customs team started checking of vehicle during which they recovered 100 laptops.
Customs team seized the laptops alongwith non-duty paid truck and registered a case of smuggling against accused person.
