FTO adjourns hearing of refund case against RTO-I Lahore

LAHORE: The Federal Tax Ombudsman (FTO) has adjourned the hearing of a case filed by Malik Israr Ahmed  against Regional Tax Office-I (RTO-I) Lahore until next hearing.

According to details, Advisor to Federal Tax Ombudsman Mian Munawar Ghafoor heard the complained filed by Malik Israr Ahmed who is a resident of Government Employee Co-oprative Housing Socity 436-A/1 Township Lahore versus Regional Tax Office-I (RTO-I) Lahore in which the counsel for the appellant Muhammad Arshed Bashir argued that the recipient has failed to make payment of tax refund claims to the company.

He said that recepient Regional Tax Office-I (RTO-I) Lahore has failed to settele the tax refunds claims of appellant.

The counsel of above said appellant argued that at the end we decided to approach Federal Tax Ombudsman (FTO) to interfere in this case and direct the tax authorities to clear our refund claims as early as possible. The counsel of appellant said that Regional Tax Office-I Lahore should refund the excess collection at the end of year but failed to do so.

While on the other side respondent department representative argued that RTO-Lahore ready for settle the refund claim issue If appellant provide accurate record in Regional Tax Office then RTO will check the record and refund the extra tax to appellant, after assessment.

After hearing the arguments from both sides the Adviser of Federal Tax Ombudsman Mian Munawar Ghafoor adjourned the case till next date for further hearing and directed the parties to appear on said date for further hearing.
