Research, marketing analyses cells to be established in FBR: Chairman

RAWALPINDI: Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) Chairman Nisar Muhammad Khan has said research and marketing analyses cells would be established in FBR to focus on resolving the issues in a befitting manner and streamlining the working procedure.

Addressing a seminar, organised by Pakistan Tax Bar Association at Summer Camp 2016 in Murree, he said that the necessary groundwork had been completed and best capable professionals would be hired from the market to improve the system.

Tax law professionals from all over the country and office-bearers of Tax Bar Associations participated in the proceedings of the Camp in which sessions were conducted by experts and eminent scholars.

The FBR chairman said that the concerns of the taxpayers and tax law practitioners would be resolved keeping in view their difficulties. It was imperative to create tax culture with the objective to enhance financial resources for socio-economic development and welfare of the country, he added.

Nisar informed the participants that new taxation system would be evolved to improve the efficiency of FBR as well as to facilitate the taxpayers. He also assured elimination of SRO’s culture which would be replaced with more appropriate methods to give concessions. He said that regular taxpayers should not be harassed at any cost and action could only be taken on solid evidences.

“The taxpayers deserve due pride and honour and their contributions to national economy must be acknowledged,” he said, and added, “Process has already been initiated to eliminate corrupt practices in management besides bringing behavioural changes in officials.

The FBR chairman responded to all the issues pointed out by the office-bearers of Tax Bar Association during their deliberations and acknowledged their participation and capacity building activities with regard to taxation.

Earlier, Abdul Qadir Memon, in his presentation, briefed about the positives of Summer Camps. He also paid tributes to FBR for record revenue collection in the history of Pakistan. The sales tax issues of manufactures of Sialkot city were also highlighted on the occasion.

Pakistan Tax Bar Association President Mohsin Nadeem, Lahore Bar Association President Farhan Shahzad and General Secretary Abdul Qudoos Mughal also spoke on the occasion.
