Customs seizes 1,645 smartphones, arrests four passengers at BB Airport

ISLAMABAD: The Customs officials have seized more than 1,600 smartphones worth over Rs 20 million and arrested four passengers, coming from Dubai through PK 234, at the VIP Lounge of Benazir Bhutto International Airport.

The officials of Model Customs Collectorate (MCC) Islamabad arrested the accused smugglers on a tipoff, passed on by the Customs Collector to Superintendent Naeem Anwar. After receiving information, Customs’ Vigilance Wing Inspector Muhammad Ejaz checked the luggage of four suspicious passengers at Rawal Lounge.

The scanning of the baggage of passengers, namely Muhammad Falsal Memon, PP No BC8919574 Karachi; Nazeer Abdullah, PP No AE0208124 Karachi; Nazeer Abdullah, PP No HC9828231 Kohat and Waqas Umar PP No BH2225622 Kohat, led to the recovery of 1,645 smartphones of assorted brands and 10,700 memory cards.

The FIRs have been registers in the Investigation and Prosecution Branch, Model Customs Collectorate (MCC) Islamabad.
