Islamabad Customs impounds 2 vehicles, Fabric worth of Rs 2.4m

ISLAMABAD: With direction of Federal Board of Revenue (FBR), the anti-smuggling squad has seized foreign origin fabric and two offending vehicles worth Rs 2.4 million.

Deputy Collector MCC Shahid Jan informed Customs Today that anti-smuggling squad was on its routine patrolling at Peshawar-Lahore Motorway when the squad intercepted two vehicles coming from Peshawar.

The anti-smuggling squad asked the drivers to provide the relevant documents of the loaded goods, but he remained failed to provide the relevant documents to the customs staff, after that the squad seized the goods.

He said that the smugglers have changed their mode of smuggling because of anti smuggling activity, before said activity started the offender used carriage vehicles or passengers buses but after crackdown on carriage vehicles now they use private cars for smuggling.

He said that anti smuggling activity will continue during next financial year 2016-17 with more effective efforts according to directions provided by the Chairman (FBR).

Deputy Collector Shahid Jan said that this anti smuggling drive will be monitor from beginning of current financial year 2016-17, and will get the desire results under supervision of Collector Dr Arslan.

He said that under this seizer the anti smuggling organization (ASO) seized foreign origin Fabric, the estimated value of this fabric was Rs4,000,00, and ASO also seized two offending car under value of Rs2 million.
