Customs Appellate Tribunal resumes hearing of cases after summer vacations

LAHORE: The Customs Appellate Tribunal (CAT) has started functioning after 15 days summer vacations.

According to details, Customs Appellate Tribunal resumed the hearing of cases after summer vacations from July 26, 2016. The Customs Appellate Tribunal chairman issued notification of holidays which were ended on July 26, 2016. All the cases were adjourned and not a single case was heard from July 11 to July 26.

It is necessary to mention here that before this the members and officials of Customs Appellate Tribunal were enjoyed eid holidays from 5th to 8th July and the tribunal was closed on 9th and 10th July due to routine holidays of Saturday and Sunday. Hearing of many important cases were pending in the Customs Appellate Tribunal due to summer vacations all cases are adjourned till 26 July.

Source told Customs Today that all benches of Lahore, Karachi, Peshawar and Quetta are reopened after fifteen days summer vacations. The bench I&II Lahore has started functioning.

Member Technical Khawaja Omer Mehdi, Bench-II Member Judicial Imran Tariq and Member Techinical Omer Arshad Hakeem will resume hearing of cases from today.
