Sialkot ASO seizes smuggled tea, almonds

SIALKOT: The Customs Anti-Smuggling Organisation (ASO) Zone-I has seized smuggled Iranian origin black tea and almonds worth Rs 120,000 during an action near Kamokey Toll Plaza.

Reportedly, ASO Zone-I incharge Deputy Collector Muhammad Hanif deputed Inspector Muhmmad Amjad to check vehicles on Grand Trunk (GT) Road under anti-smuggling campaign, which has been stared on the orders of the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR).

The said inspector along with his team started checking on GT Road near Kamoke Toll Plaza. The team checked many vehicles. Meanwhile, the team checked a van bearing Registration No LOC-3878, which was coming from Lahore and was going to Sialkot.

The team searched the van and recovered some packets of Iranian origin black tea and almond. The team confiscated packets of black tea and almond after the driver named Rasheed failed to produce documents regarding legal import of the items.

The driver with van was released after necessary interrogation and team shifted confiscated items to the store of Model Customs Collectorate. Inspector Amjad told Customs Today that the anti-smuggling campaign is continue in region to tighten noose around the smugglers.
