Faisalabad ASO seizes smuggled items, vehicles worth Rs 3.88m in third week of July

FAISALABAD: The Anti-Smuggling Organization  (ASO) Faisalabad has conducted various operations against smugglers on the special instructions of Additional Collector Saeed Asad and recovered goods worth Rs 3,882,000 during third week of July.

Sources told Customs Today that Deputy Collector Muhammad Rizwan Khan constituted a team to curb smuggling attempts in the region. The ASO team consisted of Saeed Akhtar Joiya, Superintendent; Masood Saeed Chohan and Safdar Ali, inspectors and Muhammad Ashraf, Liaquat Ali, Israr Ahmad and Muhammad Abdullah, (sepoys), impounded four non-duty paid vehicles worth Rs 3,150,000. These vehicles were brought into the country without payment of custom duty and taxes.

Sources said that anti smuggling team also recovered 1370 kilograms of foreign origin cloth. The market value of seized cloth is Rs 73,2000.

ASO authorities after seizing these goods and vehicles forwarded the cases to Customs Adjudication department for further proceedings.

It is necessary to mention here that ASO Faisalabad enhanced its anti smuggling campaign and using all available resources to curb smuggling in the region.
