FAISALABAD: The Customs Intelligence and Investigation seized smuggled generator and miscellaneous goods worth Rs 2.07 million involving duty/taxes amounting to Rs 834,794 during third week of July 2016.
Under the supervision of Additional Director Azmat Tahira, the Customs Intelligence conducted raids in the region to curb smuggling and registered two cases against the accused persons.
Following information received through Deputy Director Muhammad Riaz Hussain, the intelligence team, comprising Senior Intelligence Officer Zahid Saleem Mirza, Intelligence Officer Mansoor Nasir, Bashir Hussain, Sepoys Mukhtar Ahmed, Shoukat Hayat, Khalil Ahmed and Muhammad Iqbal conducted raids and recovered items.
As per details, the Customs Intelligence intercepted a Shahzore Hundai vehicle bearing Registration No FDS- 8385 near Kashmir Chowk Cannal Road, Faisalabad and recovered foreign origin used generator worth Rs 600,000 involving duty/taxes amounting to Rs 284,800.
It also confiscated miscellaneous items worth Rs 1.47 million involving duty/taxes amounting to Rs 549,994. The items were seized from Sial More, Khushab under under Section 156(1)89 and 90 ibid read with Section 3(1) (3) of the Import and Export Control Act, 1969.
The raiding party took all the items into customs after the persons concerned failed to produce documents regarding legal import of the items. The cases have been forwarded to the adjudication for further legal action.
