Collector Ahmed Reza directs officials, staff to accelerate performance to curb smuggling

SIALKOT: Collector Customs Sialkot Ahmed Reza Khan has expressed his satisfaction over the performance of Anti-Smuggling Organisation (ASO) in the region.

While talking to officials of collectorate in his office the other day, Collector Reza said that the department should accelerate its activities to further improve its performance in order to curb smuggling of contraband items, especially Iranian high-speed diesel, cloth, smuggled cigarettes, foreign origin non-customs paid vehicles and other items.

Additional Collector Faiz Ali, Deputy Directors Waheed Anwar Abro, Muhammad Hanif, Muhammad Ilyas and others were also present during the meeting. Collector Reza said that all officials should perform their duties to curb smuggling because the Federal Board Of Revenue (FBR) want to see the best performance of ASO and customs departments to curb smuggling in the region.

He said that anti smuggling campaign continue by the order of FBR in the country and all relevant departments are participating to curb smuggling in the country whereas these departments are working jointly.

He said the secret agencies as well as police, motorway police, Rangers, Army and other concerned institutions are cooperating with Customs Department and Customs Intelligence and Investigation department to curb smuggling and fruitful results are observing day by day.

He said that the Customs department is also taking interest to boost exports of the interest of country whereas the Customs department also facilitating exporters according to instructions of FBR at dry port and airport.

He said that the export from Sialkot Dry Port Trust (SDPT) and Sialkot International Airport Limited (SIAL) are increasing and exporters of Sialkot are not feeling hardships by Customs department.

He said that WeBOC system is much better for export process and all exporters of Sialkot are getting benefit from the system. He said that the Customs department has achieved its target for the year 2015-16 against assigned target of FBR and department will also achieve target for the year 2016-17.
