Customs officers holding more than one posts in Customs House as FBR faces shortage of CSS officers

KARACHI: The administrative crisis has further deepened in the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR), as the officers of BS-19 and BS-20 of the Pakistan Customs are holding more than one posts in Custom House.

According to details, Dr Agha Owais Jawwad is holding two charges and is working as Directorate General of Internal Audit-Customs and also Director of Directorate General of Internal Audit-Customs.

Similarly, an officer of BS-20 Dr Farid Iqbal Qureshi is also holding two charges as he is working as Collector Customs Collectorate of Appraisement-West and also holding an additional charge of the Director of the Directorate of Reforms & Automation (R&A).

In addition, an officer of BS-20 Shahnaz Maqbool is also holding two charges, as she is recently working as Director of Input Output Co-efficient Organization (IOCO) and also possessing an additional charge of the Director General of Input Output Co-efficient Organization (IOCO).

Similarly, an officer of BS-20 Jawed Chaudhry is also holding two charges, as he is currently posted as Collector of Customs Adjudication-II and in the same time he is also looking after the additional charge of Collector of Customs Adjudication-I in the absence of the Collector Abdul Basit Chaudhry, as he is on ex-Pakistan leave.

The sources informed Customs Today that the authorities concerned of FBR are also thinking over to depute a permanent CSS officer on all those aforementioned posts, but the matter of concerns are that the FBR is facing shortage of CSS officers and keeping the said issue the FBR authorities concerned are deputing competent and skilled CSS officers on more than one posts.

The sources further informed this scribe that the seasoned CSS officers across the country who are deputing at different field formations’ offices are over-burden in connection of their works distribution among the different Collectorates.
