ASO confiscates electronic items worth of Rs 50m

KARACHI: The Quetta Anti-Smuggling Organisation (ASO) has seized a huge quantity of electronics items during a successful raid.

Deputy Collector Jhanzaib Abbasi received information that a huge consignment of electronics items was being smuggled out of the Quetta city. These items were to be supplied to Mirpur Khas, Hyderabad, Karachi and others cities. The deputy collector formed an ASO team comprising Preventive Arslan Ahmed Khan, Inspectors shamim Ali and others. The team established check points at the exit point of the city and started the checking of the vehicles. During the checking, the team intercepted a suspicious truck and recovered 50 LEDs, 80 mini computers, 20 room fridges and other items.

The team sized all items while two men were arrested during the time of the action. During the interrogation of the accused it revealed the driver have no recipients of Customs-duty clearance and the value of sized items is more than Rs50 million. The officials also impounded the truck which was use in smuggling.
