LONDON: Members of the Israel food industry have gathered at a meeting of the Maritime Traders Association to warm of soaring food prices, according to the Jerusalem Post. The industry warned that the mismanaged ports has led to troubles in the process of important grain and feed shipments from abroad that raised their prices. This made it more expensive to mill flour and raise chickens and cattle.
Inefficiency of ports is said to have led to a bottleneck of Israeli imports, this has risen the price for both consumers and producers. The government is aiming to build new ports in Haifa and Ashdod, hoping to increase competitiveness and increase the import and export capacity of the Israeli ports.
