SIALKOT: The Customs Anti-Smuggling Organisation (ASO) Zone-II has impounded truck containing Indian origin cigarettes and tobacco during an action near River Chenab Bridge, Gujrat.
Sialkot Customs Collector Ahmed Reza Khan received information that an attempt would be made to smuggle Indian origin items from Peshawar to Lahore through a truck. The collector directed Superintendent ASO Muhammad Naeem Khan to foil the smuggling attempt.
The superintendent deputed Inspector Arshad Hussain Mayo on bridge of River Chenab. The inspector along with his team started checking of vehicles and meanwhile the team intercepted a truck.
During checking, the officials recovered huge quantity of smuggled Indian cigarettes and fragrant tobacco. The team impounded the truck along with recovered items and shifted it to the office of Sialkot Customs.
It is appreciable matter that the team impounded third truck loaded with Indian origin items, which were being supplied to Lahore from Peshawar.
The team has registered a case against driver and helper as well as owner of the truck. The team produce accused before the judicial magistrate for remand that has been granted.
