Sialkot Customs Intelligence impounds Honda Civic worth Rs 1.2m

SIALKOT: The Customs Intelligence and Investigation, Gujranwala has impounded a non-duty paid Honda Civic car worth Rs 1.2 million on GT Road near Rahwali, Gujranwala Cantt.

Customs Intelligence Superintendent Rauf Farooqi ordered Deputy Superintendent Muhammad Anwar to constitute a team for checking of vehicles at GT Road in order to impound the smuggled vehicles.

However, the deputy superintendent constituted a team under the command of Intelligence Officer Syed Majid Raza, Constables Asad Raza, Mubashir, Boota and others. The team started checking of vehicles when it intercepted a car, Honda Civic Model 2005 and asked driver named Nazir to show documents regarding legal import of the vehicles but he could not produce the same.

The team impounded the car worth Rs 1.2 million under the customs laws and shifted to the compound of Customs Intelligence and Investigation. The team also registered a case under the Customs Act, 1969 against the accused person, while the driver was released after proper interrogation.

The team will send car to laboratory for forensic test and submit case to the Customs Adjudication for further legal actions. After impounding, the vehicle will be presented for auction.
