ASO seizes smuggled pineapple juice

FAISALABAD: The Customs Collectorate Field Investigation Unit has confiscated foreign origin pineapple juice in Malapine brand. The market value of the seized pineapple juice is Rs 100,000, involving customs duty and taxes 25,654. The pineapple juice was being transported from Karachi to Peshawar.

Sources told Customs Today, that Collector Customs Faisalabad Dr Zulafqar Ali Chaudhry received information regarding some smuggling attempts in Mianwali region.  He immediately formed different teams to foil these attempts of smuggling. During routine checking, the ASO team intercepted a trailer displaying registration no, JU-4788 ( Sindh ).

The ASO team asked its driver who was identified as Sanaullah son of Fazal Ghaffar residential tehsil and district Swat to produce legal documents regarding possession of pineapple. But he failed to show the documents. After his failure, the ASO team seized the items and registered a case against the accused person.

The ASO team which took part in the operation includes Superintendent Chaudhary Muhammad Sardar, Muhammad Umar Bhatti, Azhar Hussain Jafri, Muhammad Asif and Muhammad Amin, Ziaul Hassan, Muhammad Riaz Said Rasool (sepoys ) participated in raid.
