On query, Khurram Shehzad, a clerk of the transport company disclosed 85 bags of black tea were reached from Karachi. He further stated that Haji Abdul Hameed, owner of M/s Zaiqa Tea Company had booked the goods from Karachi in his name for Faisalabad. He further added that Haji Abdul Hameed may know regarding legal import of the goods.

As the clerk could not produce document regarding legal import of the tea, the officials impounded the goods under customs laws.

The Customs Adjudication issued notices to accused persons on the violation of Section 10-A. 89(1) and 156(1) of the Customs Act, 1969. The accused were also called upon to show cause as to why the impounded goods should not be confiscated under aforementioned provisions of law.

However, the adjudication has directed the accused persons to file their replies by given time, which is also last date of hearing.
