LAHORE: Five percent discount offered by the Punjab Government on late property tax submission ended on Saturday.
Saturday was the last day to get benefit of the discount. The Excise and Taxation Department Punjab is facing a revenue shortfall during the first five months of the current fiscal year 2014-15 so the government offered the discount of 5 percent to give relief to the citizens and to generate more revenue.
After the deadline, final decision to impose tax will be announced by the Secretary Excise Dept on Monday. On Saturday and Friday, a number of the people failed to submit their taxes due to strike by the excise staff.
