FIU Khushab impounds non-duty paid Toyota Premio car

FAISALABAD: The Field investigation Unit (FIU) Khushab of the Customs Intelligence and Investigation impounded foreign origin non-duty paid Toyota Premio car worth Rs 2,200,000 involving customs duty and taxes Rs 2,404,160.

Sources told to Customs Today that Deputy Director Riaz Hussain received information that some non-duty paid vehicles are plying on roads. He constituted a customs team comprising Chaudhry Saeed Hayat, Muhammad Saleem, Muhammad Ilyas Intelligence Officer (I.O), and sepoys Masood Iqbal, Muhammad Shehbaz, Musadiq Ahmad, Muhammad Ashraf, Muzamil Hussain and Muhammad Anwar.

The above mentioned Customs team intercepted a Toyota vehicle bearing registration no. AAQ- 996 (Quetta) model 2008 as per seat belt petrol made in Japan near Toll Plaza M.M Alam Road district Mianwali and asked the owner of vehicle who was identified as Abdul Ali son of Ghulam Nabi resident of National Colony Quetta to produce legal documents regarding possession of car but he failed to provide any relevant documents. Customs team seized the car under section 157(2) of the Customs Act 1969 and registered a case against the owner.

Field Investigation Unit Khushab forwarded the case to Customs Adjudication authorities for proceedings.
