Bid to smuggle 880kg hashish to Balochistan foiled

DERA GHAZI KHAN: The Border Military Police (BMP) have seized 880kg hashish being smuggled to Balochistan from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and arrested two alleged traffickers.

BMP Commandant Babar Bashir, during gave a press briefing at Rakhi Gaaj, said that the BMP had stopped an oil tanker at a picket and recovered 50 sacks carrying 880kg hashish from secret compartments in the vehicle.

Muhammad Nawaz, the truck driver, and his companion Muhammad Qasim were arrested. Bashir said the police were interrogating them.

Bashir said the two had told them that a driver from Peshawar had asked them to drive the tanker up to Loralai. He said they had received an initial instalment of Rs25,000 to take the truck there. The remaining amount was to be paid once the truck had reached its destination.
