Gwadar Customs seizes non-duty paid steel goods, perfumes

KARACHI: The Customs Collectorate Gwadar has seized a huge quantity of steel goods, while during another operation seized non-duty paid perfumes.

Sources told Customs Today that Collector Gwadar Saeed Akram received information that some smugglers are going to smuggle a huge quantity steel goods through a ferry near Jeewani open sea area. After receiving the information, Collector Saeed constituted a team comprising Inspector Shamim Warriach, Inspector Raheel Sandoi and Inspector Khurram Zaman. The team started checking in the area.

The customs team intercepted a ferry in Jeewani sea area and recovered 50 cartons which were loaded with steel goods. Customs team asked the persons who were boarded on ferry to produce legal documents regarding possession of steel goods but they failed to provide any relevant documents. Customs team arrested all the eight persons who were boarded on ferry along with steel goods and registered a case of smuggling.

During another action Customs team recovered 500 bottles of perfumes which were being smuggled to outside Gwadar city through a vehicle. The market value of seized perfumes is Rs8,00,000. Customs team after registering a case started investigations.
