Gwadar Customs seizes diesel, oil tanker and chairs worth Rs 11m

KARACHI: The Model Customs Collectorate, Gwadar, has confiscated 38,000 liters of Iranian diesel, oil tanker and a huge quantity of imported office chairs worth Rs 11.3 million, besides arresting four suspects during two raids.

Officials said that Gwadar Customs following the instructions of Collector Saeed Akram was taking stern actions against the smugglers in the region.

In a recent move, the customs staff received credible information regarding the smuggling of Iranian diesel on which the officials including Inspector Ghafoor Shah, Inspector Tariq Khan, Sarfraz Ali and others established check posts at exit point of the city.

The officials intercepted an oil tanker and recovered 38,000 litres of Iranian diesel. The driver of the vehicle was asked to show document regarding lawful possession and legal import of the diesel but he could not produce the same. Therefore, the officials impounded oil tanker worth Rs 5 million and recovered diesel worth Rs 2.3 million, besides arresting two accused persons during the raid.

During another action, the customs officials confiscated a huge quantity of imported chairs, which were being loaded on a truck for supplying.

As per details, the officials raided Shama Street, an area of Gwadar following credible information regarding the smuggled office chairs and found huge quantity of chairs. The officials asked two persons concerned to show document regarding legal import of the chairs but they remained fail. Therefore, the officials confiscated the chairs worth Rs 4 million.
