Faisalabad ASO seized smuggled goods, vehicles worth Rs 160.17m in July

FAISALABAD: The Customs Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO), Faisalabad, has seized smuggled contraband goods worth Rs 160.17 million during July.

Deputy Collector Muhammad Rizwan Khan told Customs Today that smuggling cases are declining day by day due to strict monitoring and timely actions of the ASO teams. He also appreciated the performance of the ASO as it has foiled a number of smuggling bids in the region

He said that seized items include non-duty paid vehicles, foreign origin cloth, cigarettes and others miscellaneous items. The Faisalabad ASO registered more than 13 seizure cases during anti-smuggling activities in July.  He said ASO Faisalabad also covers Jhang, Mainwali, Sara-e-Muhajir, Sargodha and Faisalabad. He said he will try his best to maintain this pace of work to achieve the yearly revenue target under all heads.

The non duty paid vehicles were impounded under section ( U/S 157 ), and one vehicles  which were being used for transportation of smuggled items worth Rs 6,000,000 during the said period .

He said that FBR strictly instructed to all customs collectorate to adopt zero tolerance policy against those who found involved in smuggling. He said after receiving these instructions customs collectorates speed up their efforts to curb smuggling activities.
