Faisalabad Customs Intelligence seizes foreign origin cloth

FAISALABAD: The Customs Intelligence and Investigation has confiscated Indian origin grey cloth worth millions of rupees.

Sources told Customs Today that Deputy Director Muhammad Riaz Hussain received secret information that an attempt will be made to smuggle Indian made cloth. He formed a team comprising Senior Intelligence Officer Zahid Saleem Mirza, Intelligence Officer Mansoor Nasir, Muhammad Saleem, Bashir Hussain and sepoys Muhammad Iqbal and Khalid Ahmed,

The ASO team intercepted a trailer bearing registration no. 9404-E (Peshawar) loaded with container. During search of the container the ASO team recovered 150 bales of Indian origin grey cloth.

The team asked the accused persons who were identified as Amjad Javed to provide the documents regarding its legal import but they failed to do so.

After their failure customs team seized the cloth under Import and Export Control Act 1950 punishable under Section 156(1)89 and 178 of Customs Act, 1969. The seizure report has been sent to adjudication for further legal action.
