Chief Collector Enforcement South Zahid Khokhar calls for coordinated efforts to curb smuggling

KARACHI: Chief Collector-Enforcement South Muhammad Zahid Khokhar has asked the Pakistan Customs to keep close liaison with other law enforcement agencies, including in Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) to curb smuggling, it is learnt here.

According to sources, Khokhar called a meeting of the Customs Preventive, Customs Quetta, and Customs Gwadar in connection with the ongoing crackdown of the Customs Department on smugglers.

During the meeting, the Chief Collector-Enforcement South urged close co-ordination and intelligence sharing with the Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF), Maritime Security Agency (MSA), Pakistan Coast Guards (PCG) and the Pakistan Rangers in order to carry out joint operations against smuggling cartels.

The Chief Collector-Enforcement South during the meeting hailed the performance of the Customs Preventive authorities concerned in its recent activities and actions in the precincts of Jinnah International Airport-Pakistan (JIAP) in which huge quantity of contraband items and electronic items have been seized.

The Chief Collector Muhammad Zahid Khokhar further urged the authorities concerned of Pakistan Customs to continue their same performance in future as well and also asked for evolving an effective strategy in order to bust the smuggling elements.

During the meeting, the Chief Collector-Enforcement South Muhammad Zahid Khokhar has also asked the authorities concerned of Customs Preventive to complete the investigations being continued in smuggling of amphetamine chemical.

The meeting was attended by the Collector Preventive Syed Muhammad Tariq Huda, Collector Gwadar, Collector Quetta, Additional ollectors Feroz Alam Junejo, Asad Raza and others.
