Five Sri Lankan IT companies to start work in Japan

COLOMBO: Global IT (GIT) Park Japan is scheduled to open at Minami Uonuma City, Japan on August 23 where, notably, five Sri Lankan IT companies have been selected to start their operations.

The feat by these five local companies is expected to give a significant boost to Sri Lanka’s IT sector. The president of Adam Innovations Co., Ltd, Kaushal Wawlagala said, “We received more than 100 applications for the IT Park event and we shortlisted 30 companies. Then we selected the top 15 companies for this opportunity. The selected IT companies are from Sri Lanka (5), India (8) , Singapore (!), and Mongolia (!). These companies will setup their operations in GIT as subsidiary companies, starting from August 23”.

“At the moment Japan’s IT outsourcing business is handled by China and Vietnam. Foreign IT exports to Japan mainly come from China and Vietnam.These two countries have the most market share in Japan,” he said.

“Our main idea is to invite Sri Lankan and Indian IT companies to setup operations in Japan. India has a good reputation there in terms of IT services. Japanese IT companies are looking for Indian IT engineers and companies. Sri Lankan companies also will have the same demand if they rightly use this opportunity to attract attention in the Japanese market”, he said.

“Fortuna Global (Sri Lanka) has already started their operations in Japan and as part of their overseas initiatives; Fortuna Global is set to offer its IT services to the Japanese market. Fortuna’s Affluence product offering is ideal for banks and other financial services institutes who are looking at revamping their digital options to both in-house operations and increasing digital service demand,” the event organizers said.

The following personnel will be participating in the opening ceremony of the GIT Park in Japan; Epic Technology Group, Executive Chairman and Managing Director, Dr. Nayana Dehigama, Viraj Mudalige, CEO, Epic Technology Group, Informatics Japan Co.,Ltd , MD, Hiran Wickramasinghe, Debug Creative Labs Japan Co.,Ltd CEO, Abbas Kamurdeen, and Effective Solutions Japan Co., Ltd Founder / CEO Keerthi Kodithuwakku.
