Athens Exchange closes up 0.84 pct

ATHENS: The general index of the Athens Exchange (ATHEX) closed 0.84 percent up at 566.01 on Monday, making up for losses of 1.91 percent at Friday’s closing. Trading volume came to 21.35 million euros.

The large-cap index expanded by 1.34 percent, led by Piraeus Bank (up 1.56 percent), Public Power Corporation (1.50 percent), Titan cement (1.42 percent) and Coca-Cola HSBC (1.28 percent). The biggest losses were sustained by construction group Ellaktor (down 2.33 percent), Aegean Airlines (0.72 percent), metals company Mytilineos (0.52 percent) and Piraeus Port Authority (0.52 percent). Mid-caps contracted by 0.60 percent.
