IHC to hear tax reference filed by pharmaceutical company

ISLAMABAD: Justice Aamer Farooq of the Islamabad High Court (IHC) will hear a tax reference on Wednesday (today) filed by M/s WNS Field Pharmaceutical in which the company has challenged a tax recovery claim.

A single bench of the IHC comprising Justice Aamer Farooq will hear the case, challenging notice issued to recover outstanding tax in the head of sales tax.

M/s WNS Field Pharmaceutical had filed the case, seeking to restrict the Large Taxpayers Unit (LTU), Islamabad, from recovering outstanding tax amount or making any other coercive move in violation of the court’s directions.

Federal Board of Revenue (FBR), officers of LTU including Commissioner Inland Revenue and Commissioner Inland Revenue (Appeals) were made respondent in the case.

M/s WNS Field Pharmaceutical submitted before the court that the impugned order was issued under malafide intentions and had no legal standing or authority and the court may decide on relief which it deemed appropriate in this regard.
