Unhygienic food: 148 eateries, shops, vendors served notice by CDA

ISLAMABAD: The Capital Development Authority issued notices to 148 eateries, shops and vendors for selling unhygienic and adulterated food during November.

CDA Health Services Directorate (HSD) also fined 75 people during the hygiene check drive in the ongoing month.

The HSD teams conducted raids and confiscated 70 packets of gutka, 25 litres of expired ketchup, two dozens of sub-standard smosas and ten litre non-branded and substandard cooking oil. Moreover, 197 cracked utensils were also confiscated and destroyed.

The teams also partially sealed 12 restaurants and tea stalls for selling unhygienic and substandard food items. The teams were led by food inspectors and are working under the supervision of health officer. CDA Member Administration Amer Ali Ahmed said operations against the sale of substandard and unhygienic food items and cold drinks will continue. He said that stern action would be taken against the violators of rules and regulations.
