Customs Court approves judicial remand of suspects involved in tax evasion

LAHORE: The Special Court of Customs Taxation and Anti-Smuggling has sent suspects to jail on a 14-day judicial remand for their trial and further prosecution.

Earlier, the men were in the custody of the Customs Investigation team for interrogation in an Rs 209 million tax evasion case.

According to details, Tashreef Javed son of Khadim Hussain, Suhail Ahmad son of Khadim Hussain, Amir Javed son of Khadim Hussain, the directors of M/s Hussain (Private) Limited were arrested by the Customs Appraisement Lahore following the charges of tax evasion.

Other accused persons, Ikram ul Haq son of Muhammad Sharif Bhati, Ihtisham ul Haq son of Muhammad Sharif Bhatti and Muhammad Saeed son of Muhammad Alim Malik, owners of M/s Imran International Service Customs Clearing Agency were also booked by the authorities in the same case.

A case was registered against them by Intelligence and Prosecution under Section of 156, 1, 14, 14A, 46 of Customs Act, 1969.

The customs team in last week arrested them after cancelation of their pre arrest bails and presented them before the court of Chaudhary Ameer Muhammad Khan for physical remand that was approved.
