Quetta Customs seizes auto spare parts, drugs worth Rs 1.3m

KARACHI: The Quetta Customs has foiled bids to smuggle chassis, illegal number plates and narcotics during two successful raids and arrested seven suspects.

Sources told Customs Today that Deputy Collector Jehanzaib Abbasi received information that some elements were planning to smuggle auto spare parts, including chassis out of the Quetta city. On this, he formed a team consisting of Inspector Sarwar Abbasi, Inspector Wahab Riaz, Inspector Ghafoor Kaker and others to foil the smuggling attempt.

The team set up check points at the main entry and exit points of the city and started checking vehicles. During the checking of vehicles, the squad recovered 12 chassis, more than 100 fake number plates and other parts. The officials seized the smuggled items and arrested five persons. Officials said that the estimated value of the seized goods is Rs 600,000.

In a separate raid, the Quetta Customs seized a huge quantity of narcotics. On the special instructions of the deputy collector, a team was formed which raided a warehouse on Chaman Road and recovered100 kilograms charas and 500 grams heroin. The customs officials seized narcotics and arrested two suspects. The officials said that the value of seized narcotics is Rs 1.3 million.
