BRASÍLIA: Brazil’s copper concentrate exports reached US$1.17bn through August, down 18.7% compared with the first eight months of 2015. Exports of copper cathode totaled US$413mn in the period, some 26.2% higher than US$323mn in January-August last year, according to data from the development, industry and foreign trade ministry (MDIC).
Exports of semi-manufactured iron and steel products tumbled 20.6% to US$1.64bn, while ferroalloy sales abroad declined 9.6% to US$1.43bn. Revenue from semi-manufactured gold exports increased 31.3% to US$1.34bn, while those of raw aluminum fell 9.1% to US$356mn. The country’s total exports dropped 4.9% to US$124bn in January-August, the ministry said.
