ASO seized non-duty paid energy cable, Mazda Truck

FAISALABAD: The Anti Smuggling Organization (ASO), Faisalabad has seized smuggled energy Cable worth Rs3.3million involving customs duty of Rs617,641. The staff beside intercepted a Mazda Truck bearing registration No, FDR-3294 worth Rs 800,000.

Sources told Customs Today that in pursuance of information received through Collector Dr Zulifkar Ali Chaudhary, the ASO team raided near Sheikhupura Road Faisalabad and intercepted a Mazda truck. During the checking of the truck the ASO team founded Contraband items included life energy Cable (Multi Core Cable round shape for electric iron) 200-CTNs (500-Kgs), are being transported from Lahore to Faisalabad.

The ASO staff asked the accused person namely Mehmood Azam Son of Muhammad Yaqoob residential Mohallah Ashrafabad, Faisalabad (driver), and Mian Abdul Aziz owner of items to perdouced any legal documents regarding seizes itemsbut thy remained failed to satisfy the custom officials.

Therefore, ASO seized the cable along with vehicle under section 16, 18, 157, 168, and 168 of the Customs Act 1969 and Section 3 of Sales Tax Act, 1990, Section 148 of Income Tax Ordinance 2001 read with Section 3 (1) 3 of Import & Export Control Act 1950, punishable under Section 156(1)90 of the Customs Act 1969 read with SRO 499(I)/2009 dated 13.06.2009 after completion of all the legal formalities.

ASO team comprising Superintendent  Saeed Akhtar Joiya, Inspector Khalid Ashraf Noor, Ali Zahid, and spays Muhammad Ashraf, Muhammad Naeem, Muhammad Yaseen, Liaqat Ali others conducted the operation against smuggler.

The Seizure report along with enclosure were sent to the customs adjudication Department for further legally action.
